Another weekend’s coming close in Barcelona, and, despite the fact that these are hard times, it’s one which comes jam-packed full of events: fashion week, free concerts, traditional celebrations and a host of activities… So whether you’re on holiday or not, there’s no excuse for staying at home!

 


Friday, July 13th
The Brandery Summer 2012
THE BRANDERY – Its fashion week in Barcelona. The catwalk “080” and international fair of urban and contemporary fashion “The Brandery” have returned to the city to fill it with glamour. More than 200 international brands will be displaying the latest trends via catwalks, exhibitions and concerts with artists such as The Human League, La Mala Rodríguez and La Casa Azul. Where: Fira de Montjuïc. When: from the 13th to the 15th of July. How much: different prices.  

GIN PARTY – Fans of a G’n’T should not miss this Gin Party in 1 de Santa Teresa. Blind tasting of five of the best brands in the market, followed by a tasting of mini gin and tonics combined with tapas. And later… more music and more drinks! Places are limited. FESTES DEL RAVAL - The annual festivities of the district of Raval are beginning! Concerts of all styles, short film projections, traditional parades, workshops, children’s games, paella kitchens, magic shows, open-air cinema etc. will give even more colour to this multicultural district of Barcelona. Where: barrio del Raval. When: from the 12th to the 16th of July. How much: free.

FESTIVAL DE BLUES – The Blues Festival of Barcelona will be changing month in its 10th edition, but not philosophy: free concerts, master classes and a Desire to bring blues to all types of audience. Among this year’s artists are Dani Nel•lo, Mike Sanchez, Cotton Roots, Mambo Jambo, Rocky Lawrence at Big Mama. Where: different rooms and spaces. When: from the 13th to the 21st of July. How much: free.

EL RASTRO DE LA VIRGEN – Bored of the sales? Can’t find what you’re looping for in conventional shops? This flea market of artistic and second hand objects gives you the opportunity to find something truly original. You’ll see a bit of everything: pieces created with recycled material, vintage clothing, live music, tarot, vinyls, books, homemade food, DJs… Where: C/ de la Verge. When: from 12 am to 10 pm. How much: entrance free.

MONTJUÏC DE NIT 2012 – The magic mountain of Barcelona celebrates its 5th “White night”. The museums of Montjuic will be open until dawn, and there’ll be ten stages spread out over various spaces, various shows and more than 50 free concerts, with artists as diverse as Sidonie, Maria del Mar Bonet, The Pinker Tones, Brighton 64 and Manos de Topo. Where: various places. When: from 8 pm to 4 am. How much: free.



Sunday, June 15th
Picnik Electronik Barcelona 2012

PIKNIC ELECTRONIK 2012 - Spread the blanket out on the lawn, scare the ants off, get your teeth into a sandwich or packet of crisps… The picnic is a typical summer ritual. If, furthermore, we add electronic music, shows, bouncy castles, a volleyball zone and hip-hop workshops… we’ve got a perfect plan to enjoy the Sunday in Barcelona. Where: Joan Brossa gardens. When: 8th, 14th, 15th and 22nd of July; 9th, 16th and 23rd of September. How much: € 6.40. This weekend, in Montjuic de Nit, it’s free.  

FESTA MAJOR DEL POBLE SEC –Summer is synonymous with street parties, music in the air and late-nighters on the streets. This Saturday, the festivities of the district of Poble Sec are also beginning, which, as usual, will bring in music, concerts, human pyramids, traditional dances, children’s games and lots of fun.
