masacre de los inocentes, de Brueghel“Brueghel, Wonders of Flemish Art” is one of the most eagerly awaited exhibitions in Rome this year.  Dedicated to the celebrated dynasty of artists, this exceptional exhibition allows some of the finest pieces of art from the Flemish Golden Age to be seen in the Italian Capital. The exhibition will be in the Chiostro del Bramante until the 2nd of June 2013

Tentación de San Antonio, BrueghelThe “Brueghel, Wonders of Flemish Art exhibition” brings together more than 100 masterpieces gathered from prestigious museums and private collections, some of which have never been put on public display, hence the tremendous interest in this exhibition.

The exhibition takes you on a passionate journey of Flemish Art of the 16th and 17th centuries, through the Brueghel family of painters and various generations of artists who marked the style for over a century.

Trampa para pájaros, BrueghelThe cold colours of Pieter Brueghel “the Elder” are in stark contrast with the moralist landscapes of Jan Brueghel “the Younger” allowing the visitor to submerge themselves not only in the history of a dynasty of painters but also in profound aesthetic and political changes which occurred during two centuries(16th and 17th C), such as the Protestant Reformation or the Independence of the Netherlands from the Spanish crown.

This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to appreciate paintings such as “The Seven Works of Mercy” and “The Bird Trap” by Pieter Bruegel the Younger, Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s “Massacre of the Innocents”, Bosch’s “The Seven Deadly Sins” and Jan Brueghel the Elder’s “The Temptation of St. Anthony”.
