Barcelona – Sitges International Car Rally 2014

56th Barcelona – Sitges International Vintage Car Rally  2014

The Barcelona-Sitges vintage car rally, which dates back to the early 20th century, is a unique international event and is anually organized by the Sitges Tourist Office. This year the rally takes place from the 29th-31st of March.

This event is a classic and  one of Sitges’ best known attractions. Considered to be a National Tourist Attraction it is a unique spectacle, for the beauty of the participating cars and the historical recreation that accompanies it. Adding to the beauty of the competition is the beautiful coastal cities in which it takes place.

Once again, a procession of vintage cars, all of them made before 1924, will wind their way along the spectacular coastal road connecting Barcelona and Sitges.  It's not a rally to see who can go fastest, but much more an aesthetic celebration of the most beautiful old timers. With an emphasis on the quantity of original pieces of the vehicle, the age, the costumes of the rally participants best fitting the age…

Watching the Barcelona-Sitges Rally, the spectator feels as though they’ve travelled back in time to the beginning of the 20th century, when cars were equated with pleasure and luxury. Ladies dresses in their 1920s finery, parasols, horns, top hats, spoked wheels… all ready for the flag to fall.

Participants, around 100 in total come from all over Spain and surrounding countries. They wait all year for this opportunity to show with pride their vintage car and delight all participants and spectators with a not to be missed spectacle.

The map of the course and the Barcelona-Sitges Rally 2014 program will be available shortly on the official web.
