Perfumes of Boboli 2012 (I Profumi di Boboli)
Let’s start with something for the nose. During the Perfumes of Boboli festival, these historic gardens will be filled with aromas and fragrances. Between its sculptures and ornamental displays, you’ll find hundreds of pop-up stalls selling perfumes, essential oils, scented candles, flowers, spices and handmade cosmetics.
When: from the 17th to 20th of May 2012, from 10am to 8pm. Where: Boboli Gardens, Florence. How much: entrance to the Boboli Gardens costs 6€ and allows you to visit the Perfumes of Boboli fair; the Silver Museum, Porcelain Museum and Costume Gallery in the Palacio Pitti; and the Giardino Bardini Renaissance gardens. Entrance for Florentine residents is free.
Florence Icecream Festival 2012 (Firenze Gelato Festival)
For the palate, a festival dedicated to those with a sweet tooth. Florence’s old quarter will be hosting the greatest maestros of artisanal icecream and will be the setting of various competitions and workshops. This delicious festival will allow you to try ice creams of all flavours, including surprising cocktails and original recipes. The Florence Icecream Festival 2012 is dedicated to Bernardo Buontalenti, Renaissance architect said to be the creator of this delicious dessert.
When: from the 23rd to 27th May 2012. Where: Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Strozzi. How much: To be allowed to take part in the icecream tastings, you must purchase the “Firenze gelato card”. It normally costs around 7€.
MUV Festival 2012 (Music and Digital Art Festival)
And finally, for the ears, a festival which explores electronic music and digital art in an incomparable setup of concerts, DJ sets, multimedia installations, projections, workshops and video performances. Among the artists confirmed for this 8th edition are names like Kevin Saunderson, Who Made Who, Riva Starr, Guy Gerber, Noze, Marcel Fengler and Laura Jones.
When: from the 29th May to 3rd June. Where: Fortezza da Basso (Viale Filippo Strozzi, 1). How much: prices vary depending on the show.
