Nightlife in Paris
As you can imagine, in the City of Light there is an abundance of choice when it comes to going out, and an array of some real, chic, hip-hop and happening bars, some with classic décor and others opting for the more modern and minimalist style. Well, whatever you are looking for, without a doubt there is something for everyone whether you’re a hard core clubber, or you prefer to quietly relax in a bar with a nice glass of regional French wine whilst admiring the illuminated Eiffel tower at a distance and thinking how lucky you are to be in the enchanting city of Paris. Regardless, here a few of our suggestions with regards to the best areas to go out in this enchanting city, varying greatly but which offer you a choice according to what kind of nightlife you want for yourself.
Montmartre and Pigalle
This district is renowned for being good for a party with its array of bars, late-nightclubs, restaurants and well, sex shops being the red light district of Paris. However, in reality Montmartre is no match for its counterparts like Amsterdam or Antwerp when it comes to sleaze and in fact is quite a good night out for the clubbing and the view, as by night the district is beautifully lit up and the bars go all out to attract party goers, including tourists and locals alike who flock to Pigalle for a fabulous night out. The Moulin Rouge is our course one of our suggestions if you’re looking for a night out with a champagne dinner and a cancan show, and other suggestions include La Fourmi which is a favourite amongst Paris` arty type, Divan du Monde, L`Elysée Montmartre, and La Cigale which is a great venue for concerts, amongst others.
Marais
Welcome to Gay Paris! Le Marais is essentially a gay district and in our experience is a top spot for going out as it comprises an abundance of the hottest gay bars, restaurants and all-night clubs that are just absolutely buzzing. The area is really vibrant, the clubs often very full, and entrance is usually free (on the condition that you purchase a drink of course). Fabuleux! Our suggestions include Les Bains Douches where some of the best DJs in the world have played, Le Scarron a super chic club salon with cocktails and comfy sofas, Tango the largest gay club in the city, and finally Raidd Bar home to disco nights and shows under the shower…….intriguing.
The Latin Quarter and St Michel
The Latin Quarter and quaint district of St Michel is just charming, and very pleasant on the eye, and if what you’re looking for is to sit back and relax in a pleasant restaurant or café with a fabulous glass of French wine or a stylish Belgium beer then this is the place for you. Its fabulous variety of restaurants and bars on offer make it perfect to go out earlier and have something to eat to then later move on to a few bars and share a nice bottle of wine with your partner or a quiet group of friends. Some of our favourite bars in St Michel include the Salsero with has a happy hour and cocktails of all varieties at 5 euros a go, Bateau le Six-Huit which is a beautiful large boat located on the Montebello Quay next to the Notre Dame, and Pub St Michel which is a charming bar with a large selection of cocktails, a DJ every night and karaoke some days if you’ve had a few and fancy and sing song, amongst many others which you can discover as you make your merry way around this fabulous district in Paris.
So, so as you can see there is just an impressive number of places to go out in with a fabulous variety of bars, restaurants, and all-night clubs for all tastes, and literally that is just touching on what there is to offer in this great city. Be assured that we’ll be keeping you posted of all the top places to go in Paris especially if we hear about anything that is particularly worthy of sharing. In the meantime, bottoms up!
