Primavera Sound 2012 and Sónar 2012 line up
On Friday the 1st of June, The Cure, one of the great British legends of the last three decades, will be taking to the stage. The night will continue with entertainment by The Rapture, Death in Vegas, The Drums and the mysterious Sbtrkt, which turned out to be Aaron Jerome, the latest representative of new electronic with his fusion of house, pop and garage.
On Saturday the 2nd of June, comprising the highlight of Primavera Sound, the spotlights will be focused on the long-awaited return of Björk with her latest album Cyrstalline. Also lined up to perform are Beach House, the famous duo from Baltimore who have taken the entire world with their single Teen Dream, as well as Justice, the Kings of Convenience, the Veronica Falls, the chilled-out Washed Out and finally the North American band Yo La Tengo.
Primavera Sound 2012 will come to a spectacular end on Sunday the 3rd of June with performances from Joe Crepusculo, Nacho Vegas and the famous French composer Yann Tiersen under the Arc de Triomf. Some artists still remain to be confirmed…..So, prepare yourself for what promises to be an impressive Primavera Sound 2012!!
Where and when: Wednesday the 30th of May and Sunday the 30th of June in the Arco de Triumfo area; Thursday the 31st of May, Friday the 1st and Saturday the 2nd of June in Parc del Fórum. Sónar 2012On the 14th, 15th and 16th of May, Sónar 2012, Barcelona’s International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art, will take place. It comprises an active showcase of avant-garde and visual experimentation. Similarly to previous editions, the concerts, showcases and many of the exhibition areas will be covering the best expressions of electronic music.
To whet your appetite, we will be starting with some of the artists lined up to feature this year. The first to have confirmed their presence on the Sónar 2012 stage has been The Roots, currently considered the best hip hop band on the international scene. In the programme, we will also find electronic gurus, veterans and the revered Richie Hawtin, Luciano, John Talabat and Fatboy Slim, taking to the Sónar stage for the first time ever.
Amongst those pop music bands lined up to perform, feature the Hot Chips returning to present their new album and get a repeat of the success they achieved in 2010. The list continues with the English band Metronomy, and the trio from Toronto Austra, who after playing back up band for Arcade Fire, have firmly established a place in the electronic scene with their debut album Feel It.

Amongst the young talent, there is always room for the exquisite musical taste of acclaimed DJ and English producer James Blake and, following his indisputable success in 2010, Nicolas Jaar will also be headlining in the evenings at Sónar. It’s enough to make your mouth water…..
Where and when: Sónar by Day will take place on Thursday the 14th, Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th on the CCCB-MACBA grounds, from 12am to 10pm. Sónar by Night, however, will be held at Fira Gran Via de L´Hospitalet on Friday the 15th and Saturday the 16th of June, from 10pm until dawn. Price: It is possible to pay in two instalments if you purchase a pass before the 31st of March. The first payment will be 80 euro including service charges, and the second 75 euro, which will be charged on the 5th of May latest. The total amount will come to 155 euro.
