Top Florence apartment
The Althea apartment, this week’s top accommodation, is located on the River Arno in Florence, capital of Tuscany, and is perfect for two people.
Florence, Tuscany
Elysium fields of gold. Run your hands through long grasses and your eyes over the horizon, unchanged for years by nature or man. You are in Tuscany. At the centre of these tranquil pastures, a nucleus of creativity: the capital of the region is, of course, the cradle of the Renaissance – Florence. This week, we’ve run the search for an apartment in Florence that will allow you to get the most out of the city that sprung up from these serene meadows to become a centre of culture and art.
Your apartment – the Althea
Central location
Your apartment is located on the River Arno, spinal chord that runs through the very centre of Florence, and over the years has alternatively provided for and destroyed the city. From your furnished terrace, you can see the Ponte Vecchio, one of the most famous landmarks in Florence and well known for the shops which line its sides like crooked teeth. From this central vantage point, you’re just a short walk away from some of Florence’s most famous sights and museums. Your district plays home to artisans’ studios, antique shops and the beautiful Boboli Gardens.
Luxurious interior
This is an apartment deserving of the charms of Florence: no IKEA furniture here. The Althea apartment (“Althea”, incidentally, is Greek for “healer”) comprises marble floors and a sandstone fireplace; a crimson four-poster bed and ceilings decorated with classical-style frescoes. Mixing modern with new, you can enjoy watching a plasma TV from the period sofa (although why would you, when the views of the river traffic from your balcony are so much more relaxing?).
The Althea’s sister apartment, the Althea II, is also in the same building, allowing you to bring two more people on your journey if you wish. You can also click here to see a range of accommodation in Florence, for all group sizes and all price points.
