Apartment of the week, Casa Francia
San Sebastian has been chosen several times for being the best place to go on holiday in the summer. The romantic beauty of its buildings, its elegant beaches with sparkling waters surrounded by green mountains, its pleasant climate and animated cultural life style, has attracted thousands of visitors for years.
In addition, in summer the streets are filled with life and there are numerous events taking place, which will you make you enjoy the city even more. The Jazzaldia jazz festival will be filling the streets, theatres and beaches with music in July and white candles will be lighting up the horizon during the International Boat Race held there. Finally, in August, San Sebastian will be getting dressed up in its finest for Big Week, a week-long festival featuring music and hundreds of activities, also during which every night festival-goers will be able to admire incredible firework displays held for the international firework competition.
To fully enjoy San Sebastian this summer, we recommend that you stay in the French House. It is a charming apartment that sleeps 4 people, located in a central, but at the same time quiet area on the banks of the River Urumea.
The building comprises one of the seven “palacettes” located along Paseo de Francia, a stunning avenue lined with lush lime trees that border the river. This palacette, built at the beginning of the XX century and which formerly housed the French Embassy, Lyceum and the French Chamber of Commerce, has been completely reformed so that you can enjoy all the modern amenities without losing even a hint of its original charm.
Inside, it has a modern and quiet atmosphere. In addition, it has two pretty bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, one of them with double bed and the other with two single beds. The spacious living and dining area has a comfortable sofa bed and offers a pretty view of the gardens and the river outside, perfect for relaxing in after a hard day of tourism and enjoying the sun on the beach.
The kitchen, which is American in style, comes fully-equipped and has everything you need to prepare all your favourite dishes if you don’t feel like going out and eating pintxos (snacks) or having txakolí (local wine).
Following a few minutes wander down the pleasant Paseo de Francia, you will arrive at the old district and the famous Concha Beach with its promenade. The shopping area, San Telmo Museum, and “Cubos de Moneo” (Congress Palace and Auditorium) are also situated quite near. If you want to spend an unforgettable summer in this apartment, then hurry and book!
