Bilbao Cafes, Sweet Temptation

Our favourite Bilbao Cafes

Cafes in BilbaoA white coffee or a cup of tea, cupcakes, bread and butter, scones and cream…Afternoon tea a delicious tradition which reminds us of good friends and times spent chatting over a nice cup of tea whilst enjoying a light piece of sponge cake. If you are in Bilbao and want to maintain the tradition or simply relax for a while before sightseeing in the streets of Bilbao, here are a few of our favourite Cafes in Bilbao.

Cafetería Coffe Break en BilbaoCoffee Break- This café stand out for its braod range of coffee: cappuccino, frappe, coffee with cream and white chocolate, coffee with caramel. They also serve teas, milk shakes, cakes and sandwiches. A little chink of innovation in the most traditional zone of Bilbao. Where: Plaza Nueva, 12.

Mami Lou Cupcake BilbaoMami Lou- Mami Lou’s speciality is cupcakes. These vividly coloured tasty little cakes have become very fashionable in Spain over the last few years. To accompany them there is a wide selection of teas, coffees and milkshakes. Where:C/ Barrainkua 7.

Sanwicoffee BilbaoSanwicoffee- This café in Bilbao only opened a year ago. Aside from preparing traditional coffees, frappe and tempting cold coffees like the espresso with cream, tiramisu flavoured ice cream and Amaretto their speciality are sandwiches made with their own selection of homemade bread. There is a sandwich for everyone from caprese to salt cod with fried vegetables or roast beef. Tea, milkshakes and salads are also available. Where:Ramón Rubial 4 Plaza de Euskadi.

Chocolate con churrosCafé del Arenal- In the heart of the old quarter, this café-restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with fresh made churros. Those with less of a sweet tooth can savour hot coffee, sandwiches or Spanish omelette.  Where:Paseo Arenal, 5.

Teteria La Canela en BilbaoTetería La Canela- This Egyptian style café serves a delicious selection of teas (our favourite is the mint with cinnamon), cheesecake, chocolate muffins or typical Middle Eastern delicacies of honey, fruit and nuts. And if you are a coffee addict they also serve great coffee. Where:C/ Godorniz 2.
