Buenos Aires is a fantastic destination for a holiday with kids. The city has a decidedly European feel and is full of museums, parks, tourist sights which will keep you and your family amused for hours. Here is a small guide of things to see and visit to help you make the most out of your holiday in Buenos Aires with kids.
The Zoo- Children have a natural fascination for all that surrounds them and is there a better place than the zoo to feed this natural enthusiasm. The zoo in Buenos Aires houses a wonderful collection of animals from all over the world including elephants, lions and giraffes. The zoo has a rainforest enclosure, aquarium, reptile house and even offers a boat ride on the Burmeister Lake. Kids activities are also organised. Where: Cnr. Sarmiento Av. & Las Heras Av. Palermo. When: Tues-Sunday and holidays 10am-6pm Admission: $60 for a Zoo passport which includes Aquarium, Reptile and Bird House visit plus a Boat ride.
Parque 3 de Febrero- An enormous park right in the middle of Buenos Aires featuring a boating pond and Japanese gardens. Hire skates or a bicycle and explore the park or just pack a picnic and spend the day in the park with other families playing football and other activities. Where: Palermo, Buenos Aires. When: Opens daily.
Museo de los Niños- An interactive children’s museum which allows children to explore and learn through play. The kids can play at being doctors, nurses, chefs anything which they want to be. Dedicated to children up to 12 years of age and their families. There is also an auditorium hosting shows, exhibitions and cinema. Where: Level 2 Abasto Shopping Centre, Corrientes Av. When: Tues-Sun 1pm-8pm Admission: Children $60 Adults $20
Museo Participativo de Ciencias- With the cheeky slogan, it is prohibited NOT to touch, the kids will have a blast throwing, pushing, pulling and hitting all sorts of things as they learn about sound, light, the weather and all sorts of other really cool stuff. Where: Centro Cultural Recoleta, Junin 1930. When: Tues-Fri 10am-5pm, Sat-Sun 3.30pm-7.30pm Admission: $35
Recoleta Cemetery- Whilst you may not think a cemetery is the best place to take the kids when in Buenos Aires. This well maintained cemetery full of ornate mausoleums, statues and trees is a great place to explore with the family. Where: Azcuénaga, Buenos Aires. When: Daily 8am-6pm Admission: Free
