Build your own children’s Barcelona kit for a fun packed holiday
What do you do now that you have booked your Barcelona holiday apartment and travel tickets? There are plenty of preparations you need to make but why not spend a little time building a children’s Barcelona kit? What do we mean by this? A small kit of extras that will make your family holiday extra fun. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
Sit down with the kids and look for some great attractions that you all want to see. Make a simple tick-list of them so that your kids can print it out and take it along with them to make sure you don’t miss a thing. Our blog has highlighted some excellent Barcelona attractions that the children will love so maybe start with those?
Search the internet for family friendly restaurants with great food that children love. Customer reviews will help you to see which of them live up to their billing and maybe add one or two to the tick-list so that you don’t forget to try them out?
Why not print out a central Barcelona tourist map for the children to see where different attractions are? You could also task them with searching the internet for a great place to buy ice-cream (under supervision of course) and get them to mark the location on their map to help you find it when you arrive in Barcelona.
If you are planning to include a day of retail therapy during your stay your children will be much happier if you include one of Barcelona’s many children’s shops on their tick-list of places to go.
Include a copy of our Barcelona facts for kids so that they can see for themselves the facts that go with the places you visit on your holiday.
You may well be planning to take a Spanish phrase book with you but have you checked-out the Spanish phrase books for kids? If you get them their own phrase book they will feel so much more grown-up and it will encourage them to try speaking a little in a new language.
Don’t forget to include a small travelling kit of hand-wipes tissues and maybe a mini first-aid kit of a few plasters (just in case they suffer a little cut or graze).
Why not buy them their very own kids backpack for the holiday? You can even get them one with the FC Barcelona crest on it or customise one yourself with an ‘I love Barcelona’ sticker. Perfect for keeping the children’s Barcelona kit together and for holding the other kit essentials you will need when you go on days out – things like a bottle of water a few snacks their sunglasses etc.
If you are going to take advantage of the Barcelona Card or the Barcelona Travel Card you can obtain a discount by pre-ordering online before you travel. It is probably best not to put these in the kids backpacks but they certainly make-up a valuable part of the Barcelona kit.
We are sure that we have missed some things so why not let us know what you included in your children’s Barcelona kit?
