Christmas Markets in Cape Town 2013
There is nothing like a Christmas market to get you in the festive spirit and with all that Cape Town has to offer you are guaranteed a very merry one. You will find fresh local products, craftwork items and an array of original gift ideas for all the family. Here is a selection of those on offer:
Malmesbury Christmas Light Market – Come and watch as they turn on the lights at this Christmas Market in Cape Town. Featuring over 100 stalls selling sweet christmas treats, gifts and lots more. There will be lots of live music and church choirs keeping the crowd entertained before the marching band takes to the streets and thelights are turned on at 8pm. When: 29th November from 3pm-10pm Where: Malmesbury Town Hall, Main Rd. Malmesbury.
Stellenbosch Christmas Night Market (Candlelight Market) – Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of food from small producers and wine merchants, etc. There will also be handmade items on sale in the gift boutiques and stalls, as well as top brand fashion, accessories, crafts and design with the additional opportunity to taste local beers and wines. When: Friday 6th from 5pm-10pm and Saturday the 7th December from 7pmm-2am. Where: Corner of Adam Tas & Oude Libertas RD Stellenbosch.
Christmas around the World at V&A Market– This year will mark the first ever Christmas Bazaar at V&A. The theme of this year will be Christmas around the World and features more than 50 stalls selling everything Christmas related, live music and on the spot prizes to lucky visitors. When: 13th of December 2013. From 9:30am until late. Where: Waterfront Market on the Wharf. V&A Waterfront
Earth Fair Christmas Market – Offering delicious food, as well as a wide range of fabrics and textiles, frames, jewellery, skin care products, Christmas cakes and much more. Organic wines and craft beers will also be on offer, as well as international cuisine, and kids will be kept occupied with their card-making and craft workshops. When: 11th December from 3pm-9pm. Where: South Palms Centre, Main Road Tokai (near Builders Warehouse).
Kloovenburg Christmas Market Day – Visitors will find some of the finest products of the Riebeek Valley and surrounding areas on offer. In addition, you will find some stocking fillers here and some great gift ideas for your friends and family. You will also get the chance to purchase one of the Kloovenburg Festive Hampers containing products from their recently launched luxury body product range, fine olive oils, olives and some superb wines. When: Saturday the 14th December from 9:30am-3pm. Where: Riebeek Kasteel. Kloovenburg Wine & Olive Estate.
Blaauwklippen Christmas Market – This comprises a weekly Sunday market, however it goes all out for Christmas and holds a special one in the Cape Town Carriage Museum in December. As well as an array of fresh produce on offer including cheeses, bread and preserves, visitors will also find jewellery, clothing and arts and crafts items for great gift ideas. Craft beers are on sale and some wine tasting is on offer as well. When: 17th-22nd December, 4pm-9pm, Where: Blaauwklippen Estate, Stellenbosch.
Edgemead Christmas Market – Featuring around 200 of Cape Town’s finest crafters, you will find some great Christmas gift ideas here including jewellery, glassware, mosaics, and handcrafted leather and wrought iron goods, amongst many other items for a very merry Christmas! When: 6th–22nd December 2013. Open every day 10am-8pm, including Sundays. Where: Community Hall in Edgemead Drive, off Bosmansdam Road, Edgemead.
