Things to See and Do in Begur

Castle of Begur, Girona

Presiding over Begur is an austere medieval castle and the old city walls  and various defensive towers built in the 16th and 17th centuries are also in excellent condition. The old fishing shacks and the casas de los indios, palatial style houses built by returning emigrants who made their fortune in the Americas , are also of particular interest. For a few days  at the beginning of September, the Feria de los Indianos is held, filling the streets of Begur with the sounds of the Caribbean, habaneras, street performers and many other cultural activities.

If you need a little more excitement you can try your hand at kayaking, diving, boating, mountain biking and even golf. We also recommend the Caminos de Ronda, a walking track which hugs the coastline of the Costa Brava and offers spectacular views.
