Dinner with stars in Barcelona
How do you fancy stargazing and exploring the galaxy? Well, who doesn’t….Once again the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona is offering “dinner with stars” where lucky visitors can taste some delicious dishes at one of the best lookouts in the city, Tibidabo, and gaze at the galaxy.
They came up with the idea when trying to think of ways to liven up the summer evenings in Barcelona and right from the beginning they have managed to attract the general public with their original combination of science and gastronomic offerings. Dinner with the Stars 2014 starts on the 13th of June.
What Does Dinner with the Stars Include?
The evening begins on the lookout where guests will be given a table and offered a welcome drink. Occe seated guests will enjoy an imaginative contemporary menu inspired by the stars and constellations. Dinner is served with excellent wines and cavas. Aside from the standard menu the Fabra observatory offers a vegetarian, gourmet and children’s menu.
After dinner, an expert will give a small presentation on astronomy or other scientific related subjects. At the conclusion of the conference you can enjoy a tour of the observatory facilities, the museum, the lovely art-nouveau room and the enormous telescope. Finally, the star moment will come when you get the opportunity to go up to the cupula and look at the Solar System through one of the oldest and largest telescopes in Europe, dating back to 1903. You can see the nearest planets from there, the constellations and…..who knows, maybe you’ll discover a star.
