Must-see Mallorcan towns
With summer just round the corner, you’re probably already planning your holiday. If you’re thinking of going to the island of Mallorca, here are some of the towns well worth a visit during your stay there. Check them out!
An island full of contrasts
Mallorca is far more than sun and sea. It also has impressive mountain ranges and lovely towns. The Serra de Tramuntana is an area full of delights in its peaks and valleys, including some of the most picturesque towns and villages on the island.
Sóller
Sóller is an idyllic town on the northwest cost of Mallorca, surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. It’s the perfect destination for nature lovers, hikers and water sports fanatics, with a port only 3 km from the town itself, reached by taking a lovely trip on the old tram. Take a ride and, if possible, go on a boat trip to the Torrent de Pareis, with its stunning natural landscape!
Don’t miss the town square in Sóller, with its imposing church, open-air cafes and backdrop of mountains. This beautiful site is one of the top spots on the island. Strolling through the town’s narrow streets, with their charming shops and traditional houses and French-style mansions, takes you back to another age.
Make sure you take a ride on its legendary train on a 27 km route to Palma de Mallorca on wooden carriages through outstanding scenery. This 100-year-old route has lost none of its charm!
Alcúdia
Alcúdia is one of the prettiest towns on Mallorca. It boasts a fine Roman wall, the only one fully preserved on the island, and cobbled streets in the town centre.
It also has medieval houses, a wide range of restaurants, lovely courtyards and charming terraces. On Tuesday and Sunday, it holds a lively market and in summer it puts on open-air concerts and performances.
If you’re looking for dream beaches, you’ll find fine sands and crystal-clear waters very close by, including Sant Joan and Sant Pere. Simply breathtaking!
Pollença
Pollença, in the northeast of the island, has some of the richest history on the island, with well-conserved Roman remains, including its bridge and Roman theatre. It’s also worth visiting Port de Pollença: its long, sandy beaches are perfect for a family holiday.
And very close to Pollença is a truly unique beach: Cap de Formentor. The journey there is worth the effort, past cliffs, deserted coves and stunning views. There’s a refreshing reward at the end: crystalline waters, white sand and a leafy pine wood offering welcome shade. Have a great holiday!
