Essential holiday items for children
Travelling with children always adds a few things to the list of essential holiday items. In addition to the usual list of holiday essentials such as passports sun cream and swimwear you have to remember to pack protective items like sun hats and child sun-cream for all the children. If your family has younger children or babies then the list of holiday essentials gets even longer.
When travelling with a baby you always need to bring lots of nappies. You will be able to buy them at your destination but you must allow for any delays while travelling. When you arrive it may also take you a while to find somewhere that sells them. You really don’t want to spend the first morning of your holiday hunting for nappies while carrying a screaming baby in your arms.
Your holiday apartment will probably contain a baby high chair and cot. If you aren’t sure what is on offer then you can always check in advance. The same is true for booster seats and car-seats for babies. If you want to hire a car then you will need to confirm the availability of child seats with your rental company. If you are considering taking a taxi for any longer trips then most companies will be able to help you but you must explain your requirements clearly when you make the booking. If you are worried about the quality or safety of what is offered then you can always bring your own baby travel seat from home.
Another one of the essential holiday items that is often overlooked by new parents is a travel baby bottle warmer. At home you can easily warm up milk whenever your baby needs it. Unless you want to be stuck in your holiday apartment all day this is not a practical solution while you are on holiday. You probably came on holiday to get away from staring at four walls all day. Not to stare at the four walls of your apartment instead.
A travel baby bottle warmer allows you to quickly and easily provide milk for your baby when they start to show signs of getting hungry. It gives you the freedom to get out and enjoy your time away. You can spend time exploring the city or relaxing on the beach without having to worry about when your baby is due for their next feed.
Something that many parents don’t think about during their holiday preparations is a baby passport cover. For many parents this may seem like an unimportant detail or a luxury that they can manage without. There are several reasons that a baby passport cover can make your life easier. Most people buy covers for their adult passports to protect them from damage and to stop them getting dirty and bent out of shape when they get pushed into already overfull bags as they pass who immigration control. If you take these precautions for adult passports it makes sense to do the same for a baby passport. If the baby passport does happen to get damaged then you could have difficulty at passport control when it is time to come back home.
By taking care of the essential holiday items before travel you are free to relax and enjoy your time away as a family.
