This national exhibition of urban gardening, landscaping and green cities will be celebrated in the town of Espartinas from the 31st of March to the 3rd of April. This lovely municipality, situated on the outskirts of Seville is covered with a magnificent olive grove, and appearing on the backdrop of the town landscape are marvellous rolling hills and sloping hillsides.
Flora Urbana 2011
This environmental show is the only one of its kind in Andalusia and Espartinas is unique for its climate, and strategic and privileged location within the region. Plus, the town has a shared desire to encourage urban development in an environmentally friendly way and whilst protecting its natural surroundings.
Flora Urbana appears under the “City 21, Agreement of the Covenant of Mayors” framework, promoting the fight against Climate Change, and given that Espartinas has always been environmentally concious, in addition to the fact that it has won the “Green Flag-Sustainable Town” award 5 times, it should come as no surprise that Flora Urbana is celebrated in this pretty little town. The main aim of this event is to promote environmental awareness that is clearly important for the town of Espartinas on the border of the Andalusian capital.
If this year’s event is anything like last year’s edition there will be lots of commercial stands related to the theme of the show, in addition to exhibitions, competitions and activities associated with the environment, as well as many new events that, similarly to past editions, will make this environmental display even more enjoyable for those attending.
Furthermore, visitors can expect plant nurseries, garden tool companies, and businesses associated with clean energy. Finally, this forthcoming edition will be based around an exotic plant and renewable energy sources theme.
