Girona Airport:Getting There and Away
The day you’ve been waiting all year for is just around the corner. As it gets closer the excitement builds, you find yourself staring dreamily off into space as you imagine wandering along the beach, swimming in the sea, lazy lunches and late nights. You’ve already got your bags packed, flights to Girona booked, accommodation on the Costa Brava booked, only one question remains how to get to and from Girona airport, finally you’re going on holidays.
Once you’ve touched down in Girona the easiest way to get to where you’re going on the Costa Brava is by bus. Bus company, Sagalés runs buses from Girona airport all over the Costa Brava. Destinations from the airport include Blanes, Empuriabrava, Figueres, Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar and Roses. The bus timetable usually coincides with flight arrival and departure times. Train from Barcelona to the Costa Brava
Getting from Barcelona to the Costa Brava on the train is possible; the only problem is the train doesn’t go all the way to the Costa Brava, the stop you need to leave the train is Blanes. From there you’ll have to make alternative travel arrangements to your accommodation on the Costa Brava.
The R1 line links Barcelona with the Costa Brava. You can catch this train at either Sants or Plaza Catalunya and the journey to Blanes lasts approximately 1.5 hours. Trains run every hour and during peak times every half hour with the first train leaving Sants at 5.46am and the last one at 10.54pm. Tickets can be bought at the station on the day you wish to travel. This line also serves the towns of Calella, Pineda de Mar and Santa Susanna.

There is also a train from Barcelona to Girona but it is not served by the cercanias network instead by a medium distance train. Here you have several options, you can take the high speed train with the journey time taking a little under 40 minutes or the slower cheaper train which takes about an hour and a quarter. For cheaper ticket prices it is better to book in advance which you can do here.
