The Granada International Music and Dance Festival will be taking place once again this summer from the 24th of June for two whole glorious weeks. This year’s edition will also be a very significant one given that this prestigious musical event is celebrating its 60th anniversary, which is reflected in the programme featuring commemorations of the cultural history of Europe.
International Music and Dance Festival 2011
This edition going under the theme “We are the festival” is a celebration of the talented artists, the spectacular and unique spaces in Granada and above all the unique role that this charming city plays in spreading the European cultural heritage in all its wonderful and rich diversity, the most famous continent for the widest network of cultural festivals.
Visitors can thus expect a rich programme with dance and ballet, ensembles/chamber music, flamenco, recitals, opera, and symphony music, as well as festival spaces especially put aside for children and adolescents. They are guaranteed to enjoy the music, dance and puppet shows put on for solely their benefit, which are both fun and didactic for all those attending.
Furthermore this year’s programme ties in with many other artistic events and anniversaries including opera, dance, theatre, and music performances. In addition, there will be photography, dance classes, exhibitions, talks and extra activities taking place alongside the main performances.
Finally, as the icing on the cake these festival celebrations will be taking place in some of the most original and beautiful places in Granada, including the Nazrid palaces and centennial gardens of the Alhambra. Truly a unique setting for these amazing performances.
