Cape Town International Kite Festival 2014
Let the winds blow! The weekend of the 1st and 2nd of November hundreds of kites will fill the sky over Cape Town sky to celebrate the International Kite Festival.
This colourful event attracts more than 20,000 visitors, with some of the most famous kite builders and professionals amongst them. National and International professionals from Malaysia, the United States, China and India, will be making their magnificent creations fly in the clear African sky. You are, of course, invited to fly your own kite or even learn how to build one. Although, if you prefer you can simply raise your eyes to the skies and enjoy this entertaining extravaganza.
During the International Kite Festival in Cape Town there will be much more than kites. There will be numerous activities taking place on the ground as well, including live music and performances, puppet and magic shows, food stalls, craft markets, kite construction workshops, face painting and games for children.
The festival is organised by Cape Mental Health with the aim of promoting mental health and making people aware of the needs of those with mental illnesses. With such an eye-catching festival, not only does the organisation manage to offer the perfect family weekend , but they also collect funds benefitting thousands of people with mental illnesses or physical incapacities every year.
