Summer Festival in Buenos Aires 2012
“La Ciudad al Aire Libre” in Buenos Aires is a summer festival where visitors can enjoy numerous cultural activities in the outdoors for free. Thus, from the 14th of January to the 18th of February, the streets of Buenos Aires will radiate culture and fun with an array of events for all tastes and ages.
The parks and green areas in Buenos Aires will become home to theatre, music, tango, poetry, cinema and dance. The programme, detailing all the activities for the next edition, has yet to be confirmed, however if it’s anything like last year’s then we can guarantee “La Ciudad al Aire Libre” to be a great thing to enjoy as a family or with your friends thanks to the pleasant temperatures and relaxed summer atmosphere.
The little ones usually have loads of fun with the tango classes, painting workshops, music shows, outdoor storytelling, fun circus sessions and films under the stars. Last year, they had the opportunity to discover the Buenos Aires museums in a completely different way thanks to Mariana Cincunegui and “las noches de las linternas” (Lantern Nights). Surprises are sure enough to be in store for children in this year’s edition of the event.
Over the summer festival dates, there will also be interesting things for adults to do as well. Argentinean film sessions in the Rosedal Drive-in cinema, poetry and music in the garden of museums when the sun paints the sky with red, theatre in the squares, music from local emerging bands, rock in the parks, famous dancers and musicians raising the temperatures to the sound of tango, huge parties and talks and conferences, etc. There is lot’s to choose from.
So, turn around those winter temperatures in the northern hemisphere and enjoy a summer in Buenos Aires this coming January. Sound tempting?
