Large clubs for a great night out in Amsterdam
One of the things we love most about the Dutch capital is its vibrant nightlife. You’ll find that even on schoolnights the evening entertainment in Amsterdam never stops, and the clubs are full of both locals and visitors to the city. Here are some of our top recommendations for the best places to stop out late in while on holiday in Amsterdam. Those after a quiet night in, read no further…
Club Air Amsterdam– Relatively new, and even the toilets are still shiny. Air’s mantra is “diversity, creativity, tolerance, quality and freedom”. All in all, very Dutch. One of our favourite things about this club is the varied range of events it puts on. Something of a superclub, Air has five bars, as well a two smoking areas, each with its own distinct feel. It also has a great sound system. Where: Amstelstraat 16, Rembrandt Square. When: Thursday 11pm – 4am, Friday 11pm – 5am, Saturday 11pm – 5am.
Escape – One of the most established venues in the Netherlands, Escape is well known and highly respected on the Amsterdam club scene. Escape is divided into three venues: Escape Club – the main dance hall, Escape deLux – an intimate club-in-a-club on the first floor, and Escape Studio – extra space for TV programmes as well as smaller dance events. Where: Rembrandtplein 11, Rembrandt Square. When: Thursday 11pm – 4am, Friday 11pm – 5am, Saturday 11pm – 5am, Sunday 11pm – 4am.
Paradiso – As well as featuring concerts by many highly famous international acts, Paradiso is one of Amsterdam’s favourite clubs. You’ll find melodies and events of all stripes here: the website is regularly updated, so you can always check if a particular night’s offerings float your boat or not before putting your shoes on and heading out of the door. The most popular is probably "Noodlanding!", on Thursdays, which serves up mainstraim indie, rock and pop hits. Classic Noodlanding on Wednesdays comprises a selection of classic tunes from the 50s to the 90s. Where: Weteringschans 6-8, Leidse Square. When: Thursdays and Fridays from 11pm. During the week different activities take place – you can consult the Paradiso agenda here.
