Day Trips From Milan
Today’s cities have become quite generic. Take away the museums and architecture and you’ll find the same shops, chain restaurants, fashions, music and so on. What do you do when you have seen the sights, museums and architecture and you want a real cultural experience? You get out of the city, of course. Get out and explore the neighbouring towns and countryside, which is where you’ll find the real cultural differences. Join us as we go exploring with day trips from Milan.
Lake Como- In just a little over 30 minutes you can be in the heart of Como, a picturesque walled town on the shores of Lake Como. You’ll find plenty to do as the town is quite lively especially during the summer months when Italy’s well at heel descend on the city. Sit back at one of the town squares and do some people watching or jump aboard the funicular which takes you high above Como where there are hiking trails to explore. Como is well connected to other towns on Lake Como with regular bus and ferry services. Getting There: Trains leave from Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni several times a day.
Cremona- Another great day trip from Milan is to Cremona. The town centre features a beautiful Romanesque Cathedral and the world’s largest astronomical clock. What really sets Cremona apart is its musical history, the famous Stradivarius violins were made in Cremona. The city centre is quite compact and easily accessible from the train station. Getting There: Trains from Milano Centrale to Cremona several times a day.
Lake Garda- The town of Peschiera del Garda on the shores of Lake Garda is a little over one hour from Milan. The town centre inside the 16th century defensive walls is filled with cafés, restaurants and shops. Pebble beaches and long walks around the lake invite you to unwind during this day trip from Milan. Ferries and buses provide links to other towns on Lake Garda. Getting There: Trains from Milano Centrale to Peschiera del Garda several times a day
When you’re next in Milan leave the city behind for a day and discover a little more of the surrounding region, you won’t regret it. Do you have any other suggestions for a day trip from Milan?
