A Weekend of Festivals 2010
And we keep on talking about music … but we can’t help it, because with this good weather Barcelona offers many festivals and outdoor concerts. In this case we could not forget to mention the Montjuïc de Nit, to be held on Saturday 3 July at the mountain of Montjuïc, on a night where many bands will play for free.
This year’s event will feature 13 different scenarios dedicated to 13 different styles and where the various festivals that have taken o will take place in Barcelona will render their bands. Thus, the Montjuic de Nit will count with a Sónar stage where we can listen to Sónar bands and DJs such as Brodas Chacho, The Requesters or Angel Molina. There is also installed another Primavera Sound stage where we can attend the concerts of Astrud and Standstill among others. Not only that, because those awaiting the arrival of Cruïlla Festival can enjoy a starter with the performance of the Cruïlla bands Delafé and Flores Azules or Mendetz among others.
There will be as well stages devoted to Jazz, Flamenco, Blues, Hip Hop, among many other music styles. All this in an exceptional environment like the mountain of Montjuïc, with its many museums, parks and terraces.
However, it is not the only musical event this weekend. On the one hand as we have already reported, on Saturday will take place the Blacksoulona in Sarria, a soul music festival also free, and the 2nd July also starts the independent music festival Faraday. This festival will continue throughout the weekend until Sunday where we can enjoy the performance of many internationally well- known bands such as The Wedding Present, Jeff Tweedy (leader of Wilco), Clem Snide, or Spanish bands like The Punsetes, Maika Maikovski(the PJ Harvey from Mallorca). This festival is held in an enviable position by the sea, in Vilanova i la Geltrú, and free buses will run directly to the outdoor venue.
So, this weekend you don’t have any excuse not to dance to the rhythm of music, whether rock, pop, jazz, soul, blues, hip hop, flamenco; because Barcelona have space for all music styles and the best international and Spanish bands.
