The Adora Calvo Art Gallery opens a new space in Salamanca
In Salamanca art manifests itself in many diverse forms, from the sculptures cut into the old stones of the buildings, to the wine and ham which is served in the bars. But in this city full history and students there is a place for modern art.
Today we want to tell you about an art exhibition occurring at the Adora Calvo Art Gallery over the next few months in honour of their new exhibition space. An exhibition which brings together the work of ten artists and their view of contemporary painting.
The “PINTURA.PPPINTURAAA” exhibition was conceived as a project which aims, despite its age and other forms of expression such as photography or video, to show that painting is still a vibrant and surviving art. According to the words of the exhibition organiser, Francisco Carpio, painting “is one of the most diverse, rich, pertinent, varied and contemporary artistic languages”.
Participating artists in the exhibition include Miguel Ángel Campano, Philippe Fröhlich, Luis Gordillo, Mitsuo Miura and Prudencio Irazábal using more traditional techniques on canvas or paper combined with oil and acrylic paints. On the other hand Pedro Calapez, Víctor López-Rúa, Javier Riera, Paulo J. Futre and Daniel Verbis contributions are a little more unorthodox combining paintings with light shows, objects, stereoscopic techniques which create three dimensional effects…
