Champions League Quarter Final 2013: Real Madrid v Galatasary
The Champions League Quarter Final draw has seen Spanish side Real Madrid drawn against current Turkish League leaders Galatasaray. The first leg will be played in Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium the 3rd of April and the return leg on the 9th of April in the Türk Telekom Arena.
On paper it would appear José Mourinho’s side will not have too many problems making it through to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Galatasaray coached by Fatih Terim is a compact disciplined unit but lacks the individual talent required for these kinds of matches. Terim is a brave tactician but the firepower Madrid has up front with the likes of Cristiano, Higuain and Di Maria make any experimentation very dangerous.
Galatasaray has the squad to push Real Madrid with the likes of ex-Chelsea star Drogba and ex-Madrid players Schneider and Altintop, but the real star of Galatasaray is Burak Yilmaz, current leading goal scorer along with Cristiano Ronaldo of this edition of the Champions League with eight goals. It promises to be a fascinating duel between these two great players and clubs.
Madrid and especially Ozil will receive a very hostile reception from the Turkish crowd when they visit Galatasaray’s stadium for the second leg of the Champions League Quarter Finals. The question remains is Galatasaray a strong enough side to prevent Madrid from moving into the semi finals? Find out by watching live from the Santiago Bernabeu or the Türk Telekom Arena.
Take the opportunity to explore the Spanish capital, Madrid, see the sights, go out for tapas or simply soak up the pre match atmosphere in one of the many bars around the Santaigo Bernabeu Stadium alternatively visit Istanbul for the return leg.
