Seville Antique Fair
We are still in the midst of Christmas celebrations, the New Year is approaching, and Kings’ Day is still on the agenda which is when the Spanish exchange gifts unlike in England where the main celebrations take place on Christmas Day. However, Seville the city that likes a good fiesta has other events lined up following the end of festive season. Not quite the big party you were expecting (they’re saving that for April) but still interesting and a good excuse to go shopping. We are referring to none other than the second edition of the Seville Antiques Fair taking place this February in the Fibes Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre.
The second edition of this fabulous fair will be held in the stunning Fibes Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre from the 18th to the 20th of February during which the public will be able to find all sorts of pieces all guaranteed to be 40 years old or more, or even 100 years old or more which would definitely be considered antiques.
The aim of the fair is to attract decorators, collectors, professionals, fans and lovers of antiques as in this fabulous event visitors will be able to browse thousands of metres of exhibition in search of a coveted piece or a pleasant surprise. In addition, some will be even restored items, but of course the age and quality of the piece is always guaranteed.
To be more precise visitors will find more than 30,000 objects there such as furniture, lamps, fans, scales, chairs, and perfume bottles, skis, dressing tables, compasses, quills, lockets, telephones, clothes, dolls, mirrors, magazine racks, and decanters, amongst many other things. In addition, if this year’s edition is anything like the first edition, there will be next to 100 exhibitors mainly from Andalusia, Valencia, Madrid, and Catalonia occupying 77% of the exhibiting area, with the remaining 12% contributions from France and Castilla León.
The Seville Antique Fair has quickly become the most important amongst travelling exhibitions throughout the country due to the size of the event and due to the 7,200 m2 area over which the event expands. No one has seen such a large scale antiques fair, and the event has beaten records for the number of exhibited items in one place, exceeding 43,200 and for the number of exhibitors of the sector in Andalusia which in last year’s case was 96. The diversity of the goods on offer was also spectacular given that some pieces dated back to the 18th century.
Prices range from 3 for a small canvas to thousands of euros for items such as sculptures and paintings dating back to the 18th century. It is 3 euros entrance fee and children under 12 get in free.
So if you like, exhibitions, markets, and thousands of metres of antiques then head to the Seville Antique Fair because who knows what you might find.
