Seville brands: La Cartuja and Asunción Peña

Seville is not just about parties, drinking, and tapas. Seville has generated a solid base of culture associated with Andalusia that goes beyond this superficial and party image that the Andalusians have in general. This verifiable fact is demonstrated in the various brands that have been born and spread around Seville, whether its promoting the typical image of Andalusia and maybe something really kitsch, or alternatively manufacturing quality products that have a place in the most elite markets for their beauty, distinction, and of course their quality. In our previous post about brands in Andalusia, we mentioned some brands that are dedicated to quality material and to producing an unrivalled product in all of the peninsula, on par with famous brands amongst young and modern ones such as Camper.

La Cartuja de Sevilla Dinner Service pieces

La Cartuja, symbol of Sevillian descent and fruit of a bourgeoisie settled in the Andalusian capital at the dawn of the industrial revolution, has gained a reputation with the European and Spanish aristocracy over its time. Since Charles Pickman decided to open a china and glassware factory in an old cartujo monastery located in Santa Maria de las Cuevas, relinquished by the church due to the seizure of Mendizabal in 1841, and where he installed his knowledge and most innovative machinery of the time, his style, and the difference in his products has stood out and won him many prizes and gold medals in international exhibitions, such as in Paris, Vienna, Barcelona, Bayonne, and Philadelphia, etc.

In fact, in 1871 La Cartuja de Sevilla was appointed main supplier of the royal houses by Amadeo I and Saboya, a tradition which has been continued by the rest of the Spanish monarchy. Today, La Cartuja de Sevilla offers ornamental style articles and supreme quality dinner set pieces that combine the highest quality manufacture with a traditional style and personality characteristic of these products.

Asunción de Peña flamenco dresses

There is one thing that characterises Sevillian women and that is their beauty distinguished by their curvaceous figures and Andalusian spirit. These characteristics are accentuated thanks to the design of the traditional Sevillian or flamenco dresses. During the Seville Spring Festival and other traditional Andalusian celebrations, whether they are from Andalusian or visiting, the women dress up in these dresses that bring out their most feminine features. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the making of these outfits has become an art in itself, and that they are always looking to amplify women’s beauty.

Therefore, in Seville there are a variety of brands that do just this, creating some really beautiful, quality, and original dresses. One of the most well-known brands in Seville is Asunción de Peña, that has several shops in the Andalusian capital where they sell the most original and traditional designs, as well as offer other made-to-measure services, given that the dressmaking workshop is located in Seville itself. With all this on offer, they sell some of the most beautiful, extremely feminine, and comfortable flamenco dresses in the city, because femininity goes hand-in-hand with comfort.
