Take the family for an adventure weekend
Just because it is getting colder is no excuse for staying indoors. Now is the perfect time to take the family away for an adventure weekend. In the summer everyone is usually keen to enjoy a beach holiday somewhere warm. If you want to try something more exciting it is better to do it now that the cooler weather has arrived and the family don’t mind keeping active to stay warm.
An adventure weekend could be almost anything. To get started just choose whatever you think your family will enjoy doing together. Sporting activities can be a lot of fun if the whole family take part so spend some time as a family picking something that can can all agree on. Whatever you pick you will be spending at least a couple of days doing so try to avoid anything that could cause tension after a few hours.
What type of adventure should we choose?
Some ideas for a family adventure weekend could include a sports training camp learning anything from football to archery. If you prefer to be alone as a family why not try a hiking or cycling holiday on one of the many trails that can be found across Europe. With a cycling holiday even small children can easily be accommodated using either carriers on the back of the bikes or a tag-a-long that the child sits on and is attached to the back of the bike. Getting out in the fresh air is a great way to blow away the winter blues and spend some time together.
If cycling isn’t your thing then try a family rock climbing experience. There are course run at various locations across Europe and at the end of the weekend you will have gained a useful new skill and perhaps even a new hobby you can develop in coming years.
If you are more adventurous perhaps river rafting appeals to you. Let an experienced guide show you how to control a raft as you navigate your way downriver on a white-water adventure that will set pulses racing as you speed along through spectacular scenery and enjoy views of country that you could never see from the road.
Indoor adventures?
If you find that the weather is too cold for you to stay outside long or if you aren’t keen on running around playing sport or the anything too energetic then don’t worry it’s still possible for you to enjoy a family adventure weekend this winter.
You just need to head for any of the big museums that you can find in all the major cities across Europe. Museums are an often overlooked method of exploration. Thanks to computer wizardry it is possible to explore long dead cultures and to experience the wonders of civilisations long since almost forgotten without ever needing to leave the confines of the museum.
However you choose to plan your family adventure weekend the most important part of the weekend is the time you spend together as a family enjoying each others company and building strong family relationships.
