Ski season in the Sierra Nevada, Granada
As you all know Granada has many attractions, and we’re not only referring to the red monument, the Alhambra, nor the districts with their narrow streets and their Renaissance and Baroque inheritance, but the immense Sierra Nevada.
And now that winter has finally come, the ski season is kicking off in the only ski resort in the south of Spain, preparing for ski and snowboarding sports. In fact, the 27th of November is when they are planning the start of the winter season in the Sierra Nevada, and all the winter activities will be kicking for real with all types of new additions and special promotions with special emphasis on families and students.
On the 27th of November there will be a party for winter sports fans in the Sierra Nevada. For this new 2010/2011 season there will be new and top activities which comprise nothing other than the construction of the new Universiada ski slope and an underpass that passes below this slope, which will allow skiers to continue skiing on the Merible slope even if there is a competition taking place.
In addition, they have restructured some of the jumps, covered the belts, laid new loading carpets in one of the chairlifts, as well as extended the family and beginners area through two new green grade ski slopes.
However, this winter big news in Sierra Nevada has to be the openingof Sulayr Park, a complex dedicated to lovers of freestyle and snowboarding, with new modules, both natural and artificial, and Wi-Fi network,in a new location in La Loma de Dilar, with the best facilities for the users with plenty of space to practise their best moves.
And the area that once hosted the Snow Park will now comprise the Borreguiles family and beginners slope. This way, everyone’s a winner. Lovers of snowboarding and freestyle will see their area improved, and families and beginners will have better transport with a new carpet lift that will be situated right next to Borreguiles slopes.
The highlight for this season definitely has to be the Universiada slope that will be opening on the 27th of November and which will comprise an underpass on the intersection with the Maribel slope that will make it possible to hold competitions without affecting normal ski and snowboarding days for users in the Sierra Nevada. The underpass will be extend over 50 metres, be lit and be complete with security measures, thus allowing users to continue skiing to Pradollano before, during, and after competitions.
