The Aquarium of Barcelona
The Aquarium of Barcelona is the most important marine education centre concerning the Mediterranean. With 35 different tanks, over 11,000 animals and 450 different species, the aquarium is a wonderful place to look around. The complex also contains an enormous oceanarium with an underwater tunnel of 80 meters long. Since the build in 1995, over 14 million people paid a visit to the complex.
There is the possibility to follow a route, which leads you around 21 different tanks including the oceanarium. You can also choose to ignore the tour and just walk around between the tanks. Besides the Mediterranean tanks, also colourful tropical tanks are represented, filled with bright fish and other tropical marine life. At the end of the aquarium a huge tank with penguins can be found.
The Aquarium of Barcelona is part of the Aspro Group, the operator with the largest number of leisure parks and centres in Europe. Tickets can be bought at the counter and the aquarium is open from 9.30h to 21.00h during weeks and 21.30h in the weekends. Take a look on the Aquariums website for more information on current events and the latest news on the developments.
