9th Big Apple BBQ Block Party 2011
Their apron at the ready, their eye on the BBQ, armed with tongs and surrounded by delicious smelling aromas with the sun shining on the horizon. This is how some of the best pitmasters will be in the city of New York on the 11th and 12th of June, as this weekend they will be celebrating the Big Apple BBQ Block Party.
We all know perfectly well that one of the American culinary specialities is their barbeques. They are internationally renowned for their barbequed ribs, pork and beef cooked slowly on the BBQ heat, and seasoned with a variety of thick sauces.
Without a doubt, the most famous barbeques are held in Kansas, Tennesse, Texas and North Carolina. However, be assured that if you are currently in New York and you go to this festival, you are going to enjoy some of the most succulent meat you’ve ever tasted.
The Big Apple BBQ takes place every year in the beautiful Madison Square Park and more 100,000 barbeque enthusiasts gather there to taste test the top-notch grub cooked up by the pitmasters. Further to the cooking demonstrations, there are also seminars and rock, country, blues and soul concerts playing music in the background and livening up this colourful event.
Some of the proceeds will go to the Madison Square Park Conservancy. Truly a celebration of America’s authentic culinary and musical traditions that you should definitely not miss out on during your time in New York.
