Play Golf on the Costa Brava
According to Mark Twain, “Golf is a good walk ruined”. On those days when you can’t get your swing right and you’re forever slicing and hooking balls into the various obstacles around the course Mark Twain’s quote may ring true. But when you have a good day, one of those days were you drive straight, putt true and finish your round under par. You know at the 19th hole, the floor is yours and you take full advantage of it, a day that will be forever etched into your and your golfing pals minds, the day you went round under par. We can’t guarantee is you’ll have one of those days golfing in the Costa Brava but with spectacular scenery, sunshine and top quality courses your walk definitely won’t be ruined. Let’s have a look at what we think are the best golf courses on the Costa Brava.
Club Golf d’Aro- Surrounded by olive trees, pines oaks and boasting two artificial lakes this course offers golfers spectacular views of the rugged coastline as they make their way around the challenging course. Designed by Ramon Espinosa it has been open since 1992.
Costa Brava Golf Club- Founded in 1962 the Hamilton Stutt & Co designed course opens with a challenging and technical first nine then opens out on the back nine. The scenery is typical Mediterranean with pines and oaks lining the fairways.
Peralada Golf Club- This golf course on the Costa Brava is a very nice 18-hole par 71 course suitable for all players. Gentle slopes, trees, several lakes and excellent manicured fairway and greens make this course a pleasure to play on. This course hosts the Open Catalonia 95 as well as PGA Pre-qualifying school stages.
PGA Golf Catalunya-Undoubtedly the best golf course in the Costa Brava region and one of the top ten courses in Europe. The course is superb and very challenging with elevated tees and long undulating fairways. This could be one of those courses that more than just ruins a good walk, absolutely destroys it. If you find the tour course challenging the stadium course is best left to the pros.
When not playing golf there is plenty more to do on the Costa Brava. But you guys aren’t interested in any of that so we’ll leave you to your golfing.
Have you played any of these courses? Was your walk ruined or was it a round to remember?
