Roaring engines and squealing tyres in Mallorca

If this kind of holiday appeals to you, stay away on the 13th, 14th and 15th of March 2014 as the peace and quiet is set to be shattered and the sound of nature drowned out by the sound of engines revving and tyres squealing when more than 60 classic cars participating in this year’s X Oris Classic Rally Mallorca Island take to the winding mountain roads.
The event taking place on closed roads attracts classic car lovers from all over Europe wanting to put themselves and their cars to the test over three gruelling days of hard driving through the mountain roads of Mallorca. The event will be made up of two categories competition and reliability. Competition is open to those cars built between 1930-1985 and set up for racing the other regularity is for classic cars built between 1930-1985 and whose owners want to put their classic car through it paces.
The X Oris Classic Rally Mallorca will be raced over 400km of mountain roads taking in some spectacular scenery consisting of 14 timed stages and opening this year with a night stage which promises to get the adrenalin pumping. After the days racing the cars will arrive back at Puerto Portals for the public and fans to admire up close the cars participating in the Rally. Some of the cars participating at this year’s rally event include Porsche 911, Jaguar E-type, Ford Anglia, Fiat 500 Abarth, Lancia Stratos , Austin Healey and MG B amongst many others. The event will be governed by International FIA regulations and the Royal Spanish Federation of Automobiles.
In between race stages of the X Oris Classic Rally Mallorca or simply if you are not a race fan but your other half is and you have been dragged along, there are a lot of other activities and sights to enjoy in Mallorca such as hiking, tourism, shopping at the many local markets or simply soaking up the sunshine on one of Mallorca’s many beaches.
